Why we charge by outcome, not by the hour

When a consultant is paid by the hour, the two parties have opposing incentives: you want the problem solved fast, the consultant wants it solved slowly. That misalignment is the single biggest reason projects drag.

We price by the committed outcome instead. During a one-week discovery phase we define what “done” looks like — a shipped feature, a performance target, a cost reduction — and we fix the price to that. Our incentive becomes yours: finish it well, finish it fast.

What this looks like in practice

  • We write the success criteria down before we start.
  • Scope changes are priced as changes, not absorbed into hours.
  • If we’re faster than estimated, the margin is ours to keep — we still try to be fast.

If you’re shopping for a software partner, ask any of them: how are your incentives aligned with mine once the project is underway? The answer tells you more than their portfolio does.
