How we structure an embedded engineer engagement
When we embed a senior engineer, the goal isn’t just to ship — it’s to leave your team stronger. That requires a deliberate structure.
The weekly cadence
- Day 1 — planning: Align on the week’s priorities and what “done” means.
- Mid-week — demo: Show working software, not a status doc. Course-correct early.
- Weekend — handoff: Write down decisions, risks, and next steps in the team’s own channel.
Capability transfer, explicitly
We pair with internal engineers, run the code reviews out loud, and document the “why” behind non-obvious decisions. The test of success: after we leave, your team can operate the system without us.
If an embedded engineer isn’t making internal people more capable, you’ve hired an expensive contractor, not a partner.
